A website has one cost that happens once, the build, and several that come back every year: the domain, hosting, email on your own domain and someone to keep it working. Over a few years, the yearly part often adds up to more than the build. Ask what the monthly fee covers before you compare two quotes.
Prices below come from published price pages and studies, read in October 2026. The agency guide and the official sources are listed in the last section. Prices change, so ask for a current quote.
What do you pay once, and what do you pay every year?
- Once: the build, and a translation if you want a second language.
- Every year: the domain name, hosting, email on your own domain, and upkeep.
- Sometimes: a booking tool, online payment fees, a cookie banner service.
What does it cost to build a website in Belgium?
A Belgian agency’s 2026 guide gives these indicative ranges:
- One-page site: 500 to 1,500 euros.
- Standard business site of five pages: 1,500 to 3,500 euros.
- Ten or more pages: 3,500 to 8,000 euros.
- Online shop: 5,000 to 15,000 euros.
- Custom build with integrations: 8,000 to 20,000 euros or more.
The same guide puts freelancer hourly rates at 60 to 120 euros and agency rates at 85 to 135 euros. It calls its figures market indications that vary by agency, region and scope. The guide to builders, CMSs and custom builds compares the routes on effort and ownership.
What does a domain name cost per year?
DNS Belgium, the registry for .be, charges registrars 5.50 euros a year for a .be name. You pay your registrar’s price, not the registry’s. Registrars set their own prices and often change them after the first year, so ask for the renewal price. More on the domain side is in the guide to domain, hosting and email.
What does hosting cost?
It depends on who looks after it. One WordPress host’s Belgian page lists a 48-month prepaid plan at 2.99 euros a month, renewing at 9.99 euros a month. That gap between the first price and the renewal price is the thing to check on any plan.
What does a website builder cost per year?
Builders sell hosting, editor and templates as one monthly fee.
- One website builder lists plans from 12 to 69 euros a month, and says paying annually saves up to 36%.
- An online shop builder lists its basic plan at 24 euros a month with annual billing and 32 euros billed monthly.
Moving out is the catch. One builder says its sites must run on its own servers, so a site built with it cannot be moved to another host. Another lists what does not export: some page types, style settings, custom CSS, and product, audio and video blocks.
What does a cookie banner service cost?
If your site needs a banner, you can build the choice into the site or rent a tool. One cookie banner service lists a free plan for one domain and up to 50 subpages, in one language, and a paid plan from 7 euros a month. Read the guide to cookie banners and GDPR first to see whether you need one at all.
What costs do people forget?
- Your own time. On a builder, the hours are real, even if nobody invoices them.
- A redesign. One US web agency’s study found an average site lifespan of 2 years and 1 month for 50 top marketing brands, and 6 years and 4 months for 78 of its own client sites.
- Changes billed by the hour. Anything outside a plan is charged at an hourly rate, so ask what the rate is.
Does VAT change the price?
The standard Belgian VAT rate is 21%. Whether it costs you anything depends on you.
If your business is VAT-registered, you deduct the VAT on a website invoice. If you use the small-business exemption, which applies up to 25,000 euros of annual turnover, you may not deduct VAT, so the 21% is a real extra. Whether VAT applies to a foreign supplier is a question for your accountant. This is not tax advice for your own case.
What should I ask before I sign?
- What is the renewal price for the domain and hosting, not the first-year price?
- What does the monthly fee cover, and what is billed by the hour?
- Who owns the domain, and is it registered in my name?
- Can I leave and take my site, texts and photos with me?
- Is VAT on the invoice, and can I deduct it?
What does it cost with Ovrick?
Ovrick is exempt from VAT under article 56bis, so no VAT is added: the price shown is the final price. The build is a one-off fee, and a monthly plan covers hosting, domain, SSL certificate and security updates, daily backups, uptime monitoring and email support.
- Orbit: up to 6 pages and 3 languages, 550 euros (founding price; list price 950). It needs the Ground Control plan.
- Ground Control: 29 euros a month. Mission Control: 49 euros a month, with one hour of content changes a month and a quarterly report.
- Orbit All-in: 119 euros a month with a 24-month minimum and no start-up cost.
Over 24 months, Orbit with Mission Control comes to 1,726 euros if you buy the build and pay 49 euros a month, and 2,856 euros with Orbit All-in. The pricing page lists every plan.
